| 12/20/2005 Maruti Suzuki to bring Escudo to Auto Expo 2006 Indiaââ¬â¢s largest automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki would be bringing in another Sports Utility vehicle in the form of Suzuki Escudo at the upcoming Auto Expo 2006. This would be the companyââ¬â¢s second imported vehicle from the Suzuki range of automobiles. They already are importing in Suzuki Grand Vitara. The company would be welcoming in consumer feedback with this new vehicle and see the possibility of bringing it in the retail market sometime next year. Market analysts believe that if they decide to launch it in India, it would be introduced through the fully built import route. They can position Escudo as a smaller cousin of the Grand Vitara and price it in the range of Rs 12-15 lakh. The vehicle is expected to be powered by a 2-litre and a 2.7-litre engine and is in fact sold as the Grand Vitara in certain markets of Suzuki. The parent company of Maruti, Suzuki had earlier, this year, announced plans to launch the Escudo in the US, Europe and other parts of Asia in 2006. India can be another possible addition on that list. The company has also firm plans to launch this vehicle in the Chinese market next year. TechWhack |
