Suzuki EscudoThe Suzuki Escudo is a 4WD SUV made by Suzuki Motors for the Japanese market. A larger version is also made, known as the Suzuki Grand Escudo. The Escudo was known in North America as the Suzuki Sidekick, and more recently as the Suzuki Vitara and the Suzuki Grand Vitara. Pike's PeakThe Pike's Peak Edition of the Escudo is specially tuned with over 1,000 bhp, four wheel drive, and sporting huge aerodynamic aids. It was entered by Suzuki in a number of Japanese events in the late-1990's, where it beat most of the competition. The PPE is also one of the most coveted "prize cars" in Gran Turismo 2 and 3 for the Sony PlayStation 2, primarily because it renders most races trivial. Handling is a bit of an issue, with most of the power in the higher RPMs, which can make it sluggish around corners, but on a track with a lot of straightaways, the Escudo performs very well. |
